HoYoverse has unveiled a new anime-style short titled Star Odyssey, placing the spotlight on the Skirk, recently introduced as a playable character for Genshin Impact’s Version 5.7 update. The video shows Skirk navigating numerous scenarios, with several other characters appearing, including Furina, Neuvillette and Dainsleif. It also shows the outside of Teyvat for the first time, teasing more lore coming along with Skirk.
The video is described:
“Looking up, she could see the night sky embracing all that is. In that moment, a thousand emotions crystallized into questions. Where hang the sun and moon? What canvas depicts the stars? The infinite universe and breadth of time question the smallness of man. Yet it is these small specimens of mortality who may embark on long voyages, the power to create miracles firmly within their grasp.”
The music for Star Odyssey was produced by HOYO-MiX, with composition by Yang Li (HOYO-MiX) and vocals performed by Japanese singer Suzuki Airi.
Skirk the game back in 2023, with Mamiko Noto behind her voice. Known for being Childe’s mentor, Skirk formerly trained under Surtalogi “The Foul,” one of Khaenri’ah’s Five Sinners. Her combat mechanics as a playable character allow her to switch between two fighting styles:
- One centered on sustained Cryo damage through enhanced Normal Attacks
- One focused on area damage via Elemental Burst.
Both styles utilize a resource called Serpent’s Subtlety, which replaces conventional Elemental Energy usage. Skirk also introduces team synergy mechanics, offering bonus effects when at least one Cryo and one Hydro character are in the party, such as increased damage and enhanced Elemental Skills. The 5.7 version launches on June 18.
